Universal Studios Sells Out of Tickets for Premiere of Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Hollywood

For those individuals who have yet to purchase a ticket for the grand opening of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Universal Studios Hollywood park, you’re sadly out of luck. As of today, the entertainment franchise reported that online ticketing had reached its peak for Thursday’s initial opening, selling out and making it the first instance in which Universal has had to cease online sales. The park did report that a very limited number of tickets will be available at the gate and will be sold for $115 — though we can’t gauge how many will actually be offered.

Tickets are still being offered on Universal Studios website for attendance on Friday and Saturday. It was also reported that the park has sold out of premium VIP tickets, as well as passes that allow guests to skip the front of the line, in entirety.

“We have been getting ready for this exciting day for the past five years and share the exhilaration with those guests who’ve made April 7th a sell-out day,” said Larry Kurzweil, president of Universal Studios Hollywood.

With the sister-park to Universal Studios being in Orlando, we can’t help but remember the insanity that took place in 2010 when they first opened the portal into The Wizarding World of Harry Potter — where park goers waited hours in line queues to experience the magic behind the world. In addition, attendance increased by over 30%, due to the mystical park expansion.

The fresh attraction in the heart of sunny Los Angeles is spread out among six-acres that house two new rides, a restaurant, and a minor-friendly pub, as well as eight themed retail outlets offering everything you’ll ever need to become a student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

Due to the expectation of high-attendance and growing crowds, Universal Studios Hollywood started a promotional campaign in February, offering discounts to individuals willing to visit on an off-peak day — with discounts as high as $25 per person.

Anyone who wishes to purchase their tickets at the gate will pay an inflation rate of $115 per person, regardless of the day or time.

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios Hollywood is sure to impress and we can’t wait to experience the magic for ourselves at the grand opening event! The attraction will open to the public on April 7.
