Known best for his role as young Anakin Skywalker in Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace, actor Jake Lloyd has a presence that extends far past the stars. Throughout his adolescence he spent a majority of his time attending events, conventions and autograph signings, quickly becoming a favorite of many for his undeniable enthusiastic appreciation of his fans. At the young age of 10 years old, Lloyd found himself participating in upwards of 60 interviews per day which started to have an effect on his happiness and daily life — a normality for rising child stars.
Late last June fans and friends alike were shocked to find an awful truth that spread like wildfire across the depths of the internet and social media, when TMZ initially reported the arrest of our favored childhood actor. As reported, Lloyd led authorities on a lengthy car chase beginning in Charleston, South Carolina, continuing for miles as he crossed borders into another state. Sadly, after an extended period of reckless driving, he eventually lost control of his vehicle and ran off the road, where he plummeted through a fence before hitting multiple trees in a wooded area. After being taken into custody and standing trial, he was transferred to a local county jail to serve his unreported sentence. Shortly after, a report surfaced indicating that Jake’s mental health began deteriorating due to extreme stress, anxiety, and pressure from his personal and professional life, resulting in a publicized diagnosis of Schizophrenia.
Fans and friends alike gathered together on Lloyd’s personal Facebook profile and began posting immense positivity and support amongst his timeline; not forgetting his birthday where hundreds of ‘Happy Birthday!’ wishes were shared. Ten months went by without word on Jake’s whereabouts or status, and the profile continued to show no activity from its owner, until recently when a report divulged that Lloyd had been transferred from his jail cell to a psychiatric hospital. Shortly after being moved, his mother reported that his health and mental state had drastically improved and is evidently noticeable — though his release date still remains unknown.
After the disrespectful and exaggerated rumors began to spread amongst reporters and press correspondents, those loyal to their favored actor began to appear out of the woodwork, eminently standing behind the 27-year old. Due to one gracious and empathetic individual, a growing movement to support Jake Lloyd has taken to social media as a new Facebook fan page surfaced in efforts to continue the growing support for his return and wellbeing. Appropriately titled ‘I Support Jake Lloyd‘, the page has grown to nearly 5k members in less than a week and is directly endorsed by Peter Mayhew (Star Wars Saga), Albin Johnson (Founder; 501st Legion, Rebel Legion) and Pam Rose (Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope).
Peter Mayhew announced his support for Jake through a recent Facebook post encouraging love and positive reassurance;
