After taking the spot earlier this month for drama with the most Emmy nominations, HBO’s hit drama ‘Westworld‘, headed to Comic-Con with a strong presence. As thousands of fans sat in a filled ‘Hall H’ anxiously awaiting, arguably, the hottest television panel of the year, they were greeted by a star-studded cast during a lively and amusing panel, including the finale of a surprise sneak-peek at what appears to be a truly brutal and bloody upcoming season.
Sadly, while Anthony Hopkins was not physically present for the panel, the event did include cast members, Jeffrey Wright (Bernard/Arnold), Ed Harris (Man in Black), Evan Rachel Wood (Dolores), Thandie Newton (Maeve), Shannon Woodward (Elsie), as well as, Executive Producers, Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy.
We were also excited to see appearances from Ingrid Bolsø Berdal (Armistice), Luke Hemsworth (Stubbs), Ben Barnes (Logan), James Marsden (Teddy), Simon Quarterman (Lee Sizemore), Rodrigo Santoro (Hector), Jimmi Simpson (William), Tessa Thompson (Charlotte), and Angela Sarafyan (Clementine).
The brief and vicious preview for ‘Westworld‘ season 2 was nothing short of powerful, showing footage of a self-playing piano followed by plenty of dead bodies. We also see Maeve Millay (Thandie Newton) behind-the-scenes of the amusement park in the midst of her own share of slaughter, followed by Dolores (Evan Rachel Wood) riding on horseback while firing a rifle, before ending with the ominous and sinister smirk of The Man in Black (Ed Harris) and his slashed up, strikingly gruesome appearance.
While the sneak-peek, featuring only Sammy Davis Jr.’s “I Gotta Be Me”, and absolutely no dialogue, it packed an influential, strong presence for the upcoming season.
